Condensation mould in the bedroom
Bedrooms produce a lot of moisture overnight. When that air hits cold surfaces, water condenses — and mould often follows.
Why bedrooms are prone
Two people breathing for 8 hours can release over a litre of moisture. Closed doors and curtains trap it against cold glass and external walls.
Low-cost steps
Open the window briefly each morning, pull furniture 5–10cm off external walls, and keep the room slightly warmer overnight.
Common questions
- Should I use a dehumidifier?
- A dehumidifier can help in the short term, but ventilation and heating usually need addressing too.
