About
Independent evidence for damp and mould in UK homes.
Stop The Mould exists because most damp and mould disputes are lost on the record, not on the facts. We help people photograph the problem properly, understand what the photographs show and do not show, and keep one dated case until it is fixed.

Why it exists
Damp and mould problems rarely begin as neat cases.
They begin as a patch on a wall, photographs on someone's phone, messages to a landlord and uncertainty about what to do next. The photographs are undated. The messages are in three apps. The reply, if there is one, says it is condensation and to open a window.
Stop The Mould was built to organise that mess. One case that keeps the photographs, the dates, the assessment, the report and every reply together, from the first photograph to the day the problem is fixed, or reopened if it comes back.
We don't sell damp-proofing, mould removal or legal claims. Our job is to help create a clearer record of the problem and what happens next, and to be honest about what a photograph can and cannot establish.
- 01
The record is the product
A photograph on its own is an opinion about a wall. A dated record of what was seen, when it was reported and what came back is something a landlord, a council or an adviser can act on. Everything we build serves that record.
- 02
Say what the evidence knows, and what it doesn't
Photographs show where growth is and how far it extends. They do not show moisture inside a wall or whether the air is harmful. The assessment keeps confidence and evidence quality as separate fields and says plainly when a person needs to inspect.
- 03
Independent of the repair
We do not sell damp-proofing, mould removal, surveys or legal claims, and we take no referral fees from anyone who does. The assessment has nothing to upsell, so it can tell you when the cheap fix is the right one.
- 04
Private by default
Your photographs stay in your case. They are shared only through a link you create, which expires after 30 days, and deleted when you ask. Nothing you upload is published or used for marketing.
What Stop The Mould is
- A damp and mould evidence and case-management service for UK homes.
- An automated Free Case Check, labelled as such, with a Reviewed Report checked by a person as a separate product.
- One dated case file that a resident owns and can share with a landlord, council or adviser.
- Independent of remediation: we sell no treatment, surveys or legal services and take no referral fees.
What it is not
- Not a mould-removal or damp-proofing company.
- Not a surveying practice. An assessment is not a survey and not an official hazard rating.
- Not a law firm and not a claims company. Nothing here is legal advice.
- Not a medical provider. Health questions go to a GP or NHS 111.
What photographs can show
- Where growth or staining is, and roughly how far it extends.
- Patterns that point towards condensation, penetrating moisture or a leak.
- How the problem changes over time when you keep adding dated photos.
What photographs cannot show
- Moisture content, wall construction or what is behind the surface.
- Whether the air is harmful to anyone. We never diagnose health effects.
- An official hazard rating. Only a qualified inspector can make that determination.
What the software does
- Structures what is visible into extent, urgency, likely pattern, confidence and evidence quality.
- States its uncertainty in plain English and lists the evidence that is missing.
- Never invents a legal deadline. Legal rules come from a separate, versioned rules layer.
What people do
- You decide what to record, who sees it and when to escalate.
- The Reviewed Report adds a manual quality check and corrections where required.
- Some problems need a person in the room. We say so when the photographs suggest it.

Questions
What people ask about us.
- Who runs Stop The Mould?
- Stop The Mould Ltd is a small, founder-run company registered in England and Wales (company number 17316399). The registered office is 66 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NA. Support is by email at hello@stopthemould.com.
- Is Stop The Mould independent?
- Yes. We do not sell mould removal, damp-proofing treatment, surveys or legal services, and we are not owned by or paid by anyone who does. Our revenue comes only from the products on the pricing page.
- Is the assessment written by a person?
- The Free Case Check is produced by software, including an AI model that reads the photographs, and it is labelled as an automated assessment. The Reviewed Report is the product where a person, the founder, checks it. A person checks the automated assessment, the completeness of the evidence, the internal consistency of the result and the wording of the report before it is released, and corrects what needs correcting. Not an in-person damp survey, a legal opinion or a medical assessment.
- What happens to my photographs?
- They are stored privately in your case, used to produce your assessment, shared only through a link you create that expires after 30 days, and deleted on request. The privacy policy sets out retention.
- Do you replace a damp survey?
- No. When the photographs suggest a person needs to inspect, the assessment says so. We do not sell or refer surveys; we tell you what to ask a surveyor for.
